Maheshwar Fort

Maheshwar Fort, Madhya Pradesh, is located on the right bank of river Narmada. The 16th century fort is spectacular with its elegant architecture, carvings, sculpturing and views of river Narmada.

Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar ruled from here (1765 – 1796 CE) and modified and expanded the fort.

The fort houses various temples including Ahilyeshwar Mandir, Rajwada – the personal residence, offices, Darbar hall and a museum that has the collection of things used by Maharani.
