Adi Kumbeswarar Temple is located in Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu.

The presiding deity is revered in the 7th century Tamil work the Tevaram. The current structure was built during the Chola times in 9th century CE, while expansions are attributed to Vijayanagara times and Thanjavur Nayaks times ( 16th century CE).

The temple complex houses many halls; the most notable is the sixteen-pillared hall built during Vijayanagara period that has the 27 stars and 12 rashis (zodiacs) sculpted in a single stone.
