Chandra Choodeswarar Temple is located on a hill-top that’s 250 feet high in Hosur, Tamilnadu.
Inscriptions of Rajendra Chola (reign 1014 CE to 1044 CE) indicates the temple is 1000+ years old.
Later, Hoysala king Thirupuvanamalla Barvatharaja Anthiyazhvar added a few parts to the temple in the year 1260 CE. The temple had enhancements done during the Vijayanagara times too.
Hosur region and a shrine for Shiva is said to have been mentioned in the ancient Hindu text Brahmanda Puranam.
