Hampi - Ganagitti Jain Temple

Hampi – Ganagitti

Ganagitti Temple, Hampi, Karnataka, is located 5 km south-east of Hampi Bazar.

The Ganagitti Temple was built in 1386 CE by Iruga, the Commenader-in-chief of Vijayanagara king Harihara II.

The temple is dedicated to Kunthunatha, the 17th Thirthankara of the Jains. Built in early Vijayanagara style the temple architecture has influences of late Chalukyan era.

Unlike many structures and temples in Hampi, the Ganagitti Temple managed to escape destruction; even today is in good condition.

The mana-stambha of the temple is imposing.
