Madurai – Aadhi Sokkanaathar

Aadhi Sokkanaathar Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is located 0.5 km north of Meenakshi Amman Temple.

This ancient Shiva Temple, historically known as Vada Aalavaai or Uttara Aalavaai, is believed to have been established by Kubera.

Architecturally it has two east-facing Garbha sthalas – for Aadhi Sokkanaathar and Meenakshi Amman. It’s part of Madurai’s Pancha Bootha Sthalams, representing Akasha (space) linga.

It’s in the midst of a crowded junction.
