Sasan Gir, Gujarat, is located 40 km north-east of Somnath and 52 km south of Junagadh.
Gir forest (Gir National Park & Sanctuary) is synonymous with the majestic Asiatic lions, now numbering more than 800 individuals.
The 1410 square km forest consists of 258 square km of national park, and 1152 square km of wildlife sanctuary.
Rich in flora, fauna, the Gir eco-system has 41 mammal species, 47 reptile species and more than 300 resident and migratory bird species.
The forest safari roams around wilderness tracks giving us a glimpse of diverse flora and fauna, and occasional lion sitings.
