Hampi - Ananthashayana Temple

Hampi – Ananthashayana

Ananthashayana temple is located 10 km south-west of Hampi. This magnificient temple was built in 1524 CE by Sri Krishna Deva Raya.

The rectangular Garbhagriha is massive – 70 feet tall, 20 feet wide and 60 feet in length! The beautifully carved vaulted dome on top of the Garbhagriha is further 30 feet tall!

The Garbhagriha is one of its kind! Speaks volumes on the architectural and execution skills of those times.

The Antarala and Mahamantapa have highly ornamented, tall pillars – typical of Vijayanagara style. The temple praakara is large.

An astonishing architectural masterpiece!
