Chennakesava temple at Haranhalli, Karnataka, is located 35 km north-east of Hassan.
Built in 1235 CE by king Vira Someshwara in a typical Hoysala style, the temple has withstood vagaries of times, and by and large intact.
The trikuta temple connected by the Maha-mantapa in the middle is richly carved inside and outside; The shikhara (tower) and outer walls are heavily ornamented.
Maha-mantapa has lathe turned pillars. The navaranga ceiling panels are awe-inspiring!
An amazing Hoysala gem!
