Adi Shankara Janmabhoomi Temple, Kalady, Kerala is located 15 km north-east of Aluva, and 8 km east of Kochi Airport.
The Temple, situated on the right bank of Periyar river, has a unique open structure. The Temple is run by the Sringeri Mutt. The samadhi of Adi Shankara’s mother is also located here.
An ancient Krishna Temple, believed to be the ancestral deity of Adi Shankara, is located to the west of the Temple.
The Muthala Kadavu (Crocodile Ghat) is where Adi Shankara turned to Sanyasa (ascetic life).
Adi Sankara Keerthi Sthoopam, an eight-story memorial built by Kanchi Kamakoti Math, is located 2 km west of the Temple.
