Ammayappa Eswarar Temple, Padavedu, Tamilnadu, is located 26 km north of Polur, and 40 km south of Vellore.
This 12th century Chola Temple had been buried in sand, excavated in recent times. The Temple is currently being maintained by TVS group.
There is an underground chamber in front of Amman (Aparnambigai) Sannidhi. Utsava Murthis of the Temple and some ancient ornaments were discovered from this chamber recently.

Padavedu is a calm, serene, scenic place located on the banks of river Kamandala, encircled by Jawadu hills. In ancient times, Rishi Jamadagni and Renukamabal resided here, and it’s the birth place of Sri Parasurama. Padavedu was the capital of Sambuvarayar chieftains. During Chola and Vijayanagara times, Padavedu used to be an important military camp. It’s home to many ancient Temples.
