Panchalinga Nageshwara Temple, Begur, Bengaluru, Karnataka is located on the shores of Begur Lake.
Two of the Five Garbhagrihas were built in 9th century CE by Ganga Rulers Nitimarga I and Nitimarga II. The three Garbhagrihas were built by Chola Rulers in 11th century CE.
Later the Temple enjoyed patronage of Hoysalas and Vijayanagara Kings.
An inscription dated 890 CE describes a Bengaluru war, being the earliest reference to the city of Bengaluru.
With Gopuras renovated subsequently, the Temple retains the old world charm in the middle of a metropolis!
