Somnath - Bhalka Tirth

Somnath – Bhalka Tirth

Bhalka Tirth, Somnath, Gujarat, is located 4 km north-west of Somnath Mandir.

Bhalka Tirth is the place where Sri Krishna is believed to have been struck by an arrow on 17/18 February 3102 BCE, an event that marked the end of Dwapara Yuga.

Sri Krishna is said to have walked around 5 km up to Shri Golok Dham Tirth, and left the body there.

The temple dedicated to Sri Krishna is said to have been razed a few times by invaders, and re-built every time.

The sandstone and marble structure with quieter courtyard and shade trees leads one to contemplation and stillness.
