Dwarka – Dwarkadhish Mandir

Dwarkadhish Mandir is located in Dwarka, Gujarat.

The five-storied structure with Nagara style Shikhara is built around 200 BCE, renovated and expanded later in 16th century CE.

The Mandir is replete with sculptured walls and intricately carved pillars. The Shikhara rises to 78 meters. The flag on top of the Shikhara is changed 4 times a day.

Adi Shankara visited the Mandir in 8th century CE and established the Dwarka Shankara Mutt.

Dwarka is mentioned in Mahabharata, and was the capital of Sri Krishna.
