Periyanayaki Amman Temple, Devikapuram, Tamilnadu, is located 17 km east of Polur, and 51 km north-east of Tiruvannamalai.
The current structure of this ancient Temple is said to have been built in 11th century CE by Chola kings. It was renovated and expanded by Vijayanagara kings during 15th century CE.
The Temple is replete with stunning sculptures and carvings in stone. The Mukha mandapa built during Vijayanagara times has 36 pillars adorned by numerous sculptures depicting puranic incidents.
The east-facing Rajagopura is magnificent. Temple has 3 praakaarams, with a 30-feet outer wall ornamented with motifs.
The Ponmalainathar (Kanagagiriswarar) Temple is nearby, on a hilltop.
