Omkareshwar – Jyotirlinga Mandir

Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga Mandir is located on the right bank of river Narmada at Mandhata Island, Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh.

Being the fourth of twelve Jyotirlingas, the Temple is ancient. The current structure is said to have been built in 11th century CE by Paramara kings of Malwa.

The Garbhagriha has 5 floors with different Lingams installed on each floor, with Mahakaal Linga  above the Omkareshwar Linga (Just the reverse as in Ujjain, where Omkareshwar Linga is above Mahakaal Linga).

The Mukha mandapa is about 14 feet high, and has 60 highly ornamented stone pillars with exquisite carvings and sculpturing.
